From: Chris KC3QVF Greetings everyone- This is your invitation to participate in the East Coast Winlink Net. We are encouraging Winlink Operators from the entire East Coast to participate from Maine to Florida. The current East Coast Net opened on Wednesday, April 17, and closes in the evening on Tuesday, April 23. (The Net remains open for a week to give you the opportunity to check in at your leisure) We will always accept check-in's via a simple message, but will be encouraging the use of different forms in the future. If you want to get on the East Coast Notification list and participate, just send a message as follows: To: EAST-COAST Subject: East Coast Winlink Net Body: Call sign, First name, City, County, State That is it! I hope to see you at least check it out and become a regular member of the East Coast Winlink Net. Another message: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EAST COAST NET MESSAGES WILL NOT BE THIS LONG. Thanks to all that checked in this week. One of the projects being worked on is a map of Winlink Check-Ins. You will soon be able to view all of the East Coast check-in's on a map. (Soon,... I am working on it) Questions asked this week included: 1.) Is this a weekly or a monthly Net? ANSWER: This is a Weekly Net, but it remains open for an entire week. so you can check-in at any time during the week. 2.) What forms are needed to check in? ANSWER: You can use a simple message, or any form that you want to try out. Just be sure that your form includes the basic required information listed below. 3.) Are you going to do P2P Nets? ANSWER: In the future, Yes. The plan is to get at least one P2P Operator in each of the States along the East Coast. When that is arranged, P2P Operators will be given instructions on Date, Day, Time, Frequency and call sign for sending the message of the week. (If there are any P2P Operators out there, interested in assisting with the future P2P Nets, let me know) THIS WEEK: The Net is OPEN from the time you receive this message, until Friday, May 3rd. The reason for the extra few days this week is to shift the Opening and Closing Days away from Wednesday. There are a few dozen different Winlink Wednesday Nets, and we do not want to get lost in the Mix. So starting in May, The East Coast Winlink Net will open on Fridays, and remain open until the following Friday. Also, starting in May, we will send out an advanced schedule of the forms for the 5 Fridays in May. As mentioned above, we will always accept a simple message for check-in. Feel free to send any form that you would like to try this week. Check in this week by sending: To: EAST-COAST Subject: East Coast Winlink Net Body: Call sign, first name, city, county, state Feel free to ask any questions in the body of the message.
